The Cottage

The main living area in The Old Reading Room has bags of character with its original exposed woodwork and focuses around the wonderful corner inglenook fireplace with its large log-burner. Snug winter nights curled up in front of this with a good book and a bottle of wine are a pleasure! There is a good sized dining area just off the kitchen with an oak table that seats up to 8. The cosy and comfortable lounge area has two lovely squishy three seat sofa’s arranged around the afore mentioned fireplace. There is a Bose iPod dock, a good sized LED TV with separate FreeSat and BluRay/DVD player as well as a selection of DVD’s, board games and books. Free WIFI is also available for guests use.

An open archway leads from the dining area in to the galley kitchen which is well equipped as one would expect in a high end holiday let. There is a brushed stainless steel electric oven, washing machine, fridge and separate freezer built in to the shaker style units and an induction hob in the hardwood work surface. There is also a dishwasher and microwave. In the the garage there is a tumble drier as well as a full height fridge and separate full height freezer.

The whole of the upstairs is opened up to the eaves with the network of exposed beams adding character and interest in every room and really giving the property a ‘wow factor’. The huge master bedroom has a lovely comfy superking 6ft bed and a stylish ensuite shower room with walk in rain shower. The second bedroom is also large and has a kingsize bed and built in storage. There is a small single room and a good-sized family bathroom with another rain shower above a large bath.

Also on the first floor of The Old Reading Room, accessed either up some external steps from the garden or through the master bedroom, is a surprising hidden gem! The ‘studio’, which has a wooden balcony overlooking the pretty walled garden, is a large versatile space that can be used as a cinema room with its huge LED T.V and home cinema system or a separate self contained bedroom with en-suite shower (the large L-shaped sofa can be pulled out in to a comfy king sized bed). Alternatively it is a perfect space for a playroom that children can use giving the grown ups that little bit of well deserved peace and quiet!

Externally the pretty walled garden is a real sun trap and isn’t overlooked. Mainly laid to lawn there is a large wooden table and chairs and BBQ so it is a great space for alfresco dining. The ‘studio's’ balcony overlooks the garden and has its own furniture so parents can sit and relax in the background keeping half and eye on their children at play.
